Product search

Shoppers can find products in two ways: the shop's own search, and Joomla's site-wide Smart Search.

The shop's search

The All products page and every category page have a search box. It looks through product names, descriptions and SKUs.

To put a search box anywhere else, such as the header, add a module of the type NXCart - Product Search in Content → Site Modules and choose its position. It opens the All products page with the results. It needs nothing else set up.

Joomla Smart Search

The NXCart - Smart Search plugin adds your products to Joomla's Smart Search, so they appear in the site search and in the Smart Search module next to your articles. It is installed with NXCart and turned on.

Each product is found by its name, descriptions, SKUs, brand and categories, and results show its price and first image. In Smart Search's advanced search, results can be narrowed by Type (Product), Brand and Category.

To start, go to Components → Smart Search and click Index once, so your existing products are added.

From then on, products are updated as you save them in NXCart or import them. Products you set to inactive are taken out; out-of-stock products stay, as they do in the shop.

If you do not use Smart Search, nothing changes: the plugin does nothing and the shop's own search keeps working.
