NXCart Changelog

What's new in NXCart.

1.2.0 — 2026-10-05

  • One commercial edition. NXCart now includes all features in a single commercial package. Installing it over the last free version, 1.1.2, keeps your products, orders, customers and settings.
  • Built-in licensing. Manage your license in NXCart → License. A subscription covers downloads, updates and support; your shop keeps working after it expires. See License & Updates.
  • Native Joomla updates. Activating your license sets the Download Key for you, so new versions arrive through Joomla's own update screen.
  • Safer admin editing. Products, categories, brands and coupons deleted while you had the list open are handled cleanly: you get a clear message and a refreshed list, and an ordinary save error keeps your unsaved changes.
  • Product page fixes. Fixed a PHP warning and wrong availability for digital product variants.

1.1.2 — 2026-10-02

  • Security update. This release fixes a security issue. All stores should update as soon as possible.
  • Verified buyer badge. The rules for when a review gets the badge are stricter.
  • Order pages. The order page and My Orders now load only the data they need.

1.1.1 — 2026-09-28

  • Smaller download. The package is about 1.8 MB smaller: it no longer carries two PDF font families that invoices and packing slips never used. PDFs look exactly the same.
  • Clear product save errors. Saving a product with a SKU another product already has, or two variants with the same SKU, now says so and names the variant, opens it and puts the cursor in the SKU field. Before, it showed "An unexpected error occurred" and a new product's form was emptied. The same goes for a taken slug, a missing title, an invalid EAN or price, and the other product and category checks. A refused new product no longer skips a product ID.
  • Swapping SKUs between variants works. Two variants of a product can trade SKUs, or a removed variant's SKU can go to another one, in a single save.

1.1.0 — 2026-09-28

  • Save settings from anywhere on the page. As soon as you change a setting, a bar with Cancel and Save settings appears at the bottom of the screen, so long settings pages no longer need scrolling to the top or bottom. The section you are editing is highlighted, and leaving Settings with unsaved changes (for another section, with the Back button, or by closing the page) asks first.
  • Tidier product pages and filters. Once a shopper has picked all of a product's options, its SKU appears quietly under the price, and it changes with the choice. The full variants table starts folded behind "All variants" and highlights the chosen one. Catalog filters are redesigned: options are tap-friendly buttons, the price range shows your currency, and the Filters button shows how many are active.
  • Hide the EU checklist. The EU consumer rules checklist on the dashboard has a Hide this checklist button, for stores that do not sell to EU consumers or have decided on these rules. Show it again in Settings > General.
  • Accessibility statement. Publish your accessibility statement (European Accessibility Act) from Settings > General: how well the shop meets WCAG 2.1 AA, what does not work well yet and whom to contact. NXCart's own shop pages and admin are built and tested to WCAG 2.1 AA. It has its own page and menu item type, and stays unpublished until you choose a status.
  • More accessible shop and admin. Screen readers now hear when "Load more" adds products, gallery thumbnails say which image they show, the cart's quantity fields are labelled, and keyboard focus stays on "Add to cart" after adding. Product cards take one Tab stop instead of two. Pages no longer scroll sideways on small phones or when zoomed, the dark theme and the admin's dark mode have readable prices, links and help text, and the chosen option stays visible in Windows High Contrast. In the admin, dialogs keep keyboard focus inside and give it back when they close, small icon buttons are easier to hit, and grey help text, blue links and warnings have enough contrast.
  • Delivery dates and order cut-off. Turn on Show delivery estimates in Settings > General, set your handling time, daily cut-off, time zone and the days you do not ship, and give each shipping method its transit time. Product pages, the cart and checkout then show how long shoppers have to order for the earliest dispatch and when their order should arrive; checkout follows the chosen shipping method. A product can have its own handling time, and Google gets the shipping and delivery times in the product page's structured data.
  • Clearing a shipping rule's countries works. Removing all countries (or the weight limits) from a shipping rule and saving now really removes them; before, the old ones were kept.
  • Your own words in customer emails. In Settings > Emails > Customer email text, write the subject, opening and closing paragraph of each email to your customers, per language, with tokens such as {order_number} and {customer_name}. Preview the result or send yourself a test. Developers can also override any NXCart email from the site template, in html/com_nxcart/email/.
  • Google Analytics and Meta Pixel, built in. Choose in Settings > General > Analytics how the shop reports to Google Analytics 4: through your Google Tag Manager, or directly with a Measurement ID. Add a Meta Pixel ID if you use one. Product views, lists, cart changes, checkout steps and each purchase (once) are reported with their products and prices. Google Consent Mode is built in: tracking waits for your cookie banner's answer unless you say your shoppers need no consent.
  • Create orders in the admin. Take a phone or email order with New order in Orders: pick the customer (or type their details), add products, choose shipping and a coupon, and see the totals as checkout would work them out. You can change a line's price, giving a reason that goes into the order history. Mark the order paid straight away, send the customer the usual bank transfer or cash on delivery confirmation, or email them a Stripe or PayPal payment link.
  • Change the items of an unpaid order. Orders still waiting for payment have Edit items in their details: change quantities, add or remove products, or change a price. Totals, tax, shipping and stock follow.
  • Product reviews and ratings. Shoppers can rate and review products on the product page. You approve each review in the new Reviews section before it appears, and can reply to it. Product pages show the average rating, how many reviews gave each star, and a Verified buyer badge for customers who bought the product; Google can show the stars in search results. Optionally, buyers get one email a few days after delivery asking them to review what they bought. Turn reviews and the email on or off in Settings > General.
  • Back-in-stock alerts. When the size or colour a shopper wants is sold out, they can leave their email and get one email when it is back. Guests confirm their address first. The product editor shows how many shoppers are waiting for each variant. Turn it on or off in Settings > General, and schedule the "NXCart: Back-in-stock alerts" task once a day.
  • Products in the site search. Your products now show up in Joomla's Smart Search, with their brand, categories, SKUs and price, and stay up to date as you edit them. A new NXCart - Product Search module adds a product search box to any module position.
  • More coupon options. A coupon can now give free shipping, apply by itself without a code, be limited to a customer's first order, and count only chosen products, categories or brands, so "10% off hoodies" discounts only the hoodies in the cart.
  • Minimum and maximum order. Set a minimum and an optional maximum order amount in Settings > General, with different amounts per shipping country if you need them, and choose whether digital-only orders skip the minimum. Shoppers see how much more to add in the cart, mini-cart and checkout; an order above the maximum is asked to contact you at your store email.
  • Variant pickers and swatches. Products with options such as Colour and Size show one choice per option on the product page instead of one long list of every combination. Sold-out combinations are marked, and links can point at a combination (?color=red&size=m). In the product editor's new Option display tab you can show an option as buttons, a dropdown, or colour and image swatches.
  • Catalog filters. Shoppers can narrow category and All products pages by price, in stock only, brand and your product options such as Colour or Size. Choose which options to offer in Settings > General > Catalog filters. Filters work without JavaScript, filtered links can be shared, and search engines keep indexing only the plain category pages.
  • Google Shopping feed. Turn on Publish the Google Merchant feed in Settings > General, copy the feed URL into Google Merchant Center, and your products can appear in Google Shopping and its free listings. Prices, sales, stock, barcodes and brands follow your shop automatically.
  • Packing slips. Print a packing slip from an order's details, or tick several orders in Orders and print all their slips at once, one page each. A slip shows where the parcel goes and what goes in it: every item with a tick box, its quantity, SKU and weight, and the total weight. Prices stay off unless you turn on Show prices on packing slips in Settings > General.
  • Scan-to-pay QR code for bank transfers. Turn on Show EPC QR code (SEPA) under Settings > Payments > Bank transfer, and the payment request PDF for a euro order gets a QR code. Customers scan it with their banking app and the transfer fills itself in: your account name, IBAN, the amount and the order number as the reference. The paid invoice never shows it.
  • IBAN typos are caught. Saving a new IBAN checks its check digits and says so when it does not add up. Before, a mistyped IBAN was quietly ignored and the old one kept.
  • Bank details on payment requests you download. Downloading the payment request of an unpaid bank-transfer order in Orders now includes your bank details (and the QR code when it is on), like the one emailed to the customer.
  • Orders keep their product names. New orders store each product's name and options, so past orders, invoices and emails still show them after you delete a product.
  • Long product names with PayPal. Checking out with PayPal no longer fails for a product with a very long name.
  • Sample T-shirt sizes. The sample catalog's T-shirt now shows its size in the cart and on orders.

1.0.3 — 2026-09-25

  • Formatted product descriptions. Turn on Use the Joomla editor for long descriptions in Settings > General to write a product's long description in your Joomla editor (TinyMCE, JCE or the one you chose), with paragraphs, headings, lists and links. Product pages also show that formatting now; before, they ran all paragraphs together.
  • A fuller sample catalog. The sample now includes two brands with their EU product-safety details and, on a store that has none yet, example shipping rules and tax rates, so you can see how they work before setting up your own. Removing the sample removes all of it.
  • Easier admin navigation. The section tabs have icons, and an order's payment method is shown at the top of its details.
  • Stale order cleanup setting. The "Hours before cleanup" field is always visible now.
  • No more NXP Insiders card. The Dashboard no longer shows the NXP Insiders membership card.
  • Import from HikaShop works. NXCart now reads the file from HikaShop's own Products > Export: products with their variants (sizes, colours), your category tree, prices, stock, weights, barcodes, manufacturers as brands, SEO texts and images. Before, a HikaShop export was not recognised.
  • Product descriptions keep their formatting on import. Imports from every platform stripped headings, lists and bold text from descriptions; they now come across as they were, with anything unsafe still removed.
  • Shopify files, old and new. Shopify imports now read Shopify's current CSV layout as well as the classic one, keep every variant's options and all product images, and the Shopify export matches Shopify's own template, so Shopify can import it.
  • Backups carry everything. NXCart-format exports now keep product images, SEO title and description and the final-sale setting when imported back.
  • Import / Export in dark mode. The import screen no longer shows a light box with unreadable text when the Joomla admin uses its dark theme.
  • WooCommerce imports match WooCommerce's own export. Variable products keep their name, description, featured flag and draft status however the file is ordered, products without a SKU keep their variations together, weights in pounds, grams or ounces convert correctly, categories keep their full path, barcodes and all attributes come across, and large catalogs import in small steps. Import warnings now point to the right line of your file.
  • Exporting to WooCommerce works. The WooCommerce export now imports into WooCommerce as it should: products with options arrive as variable products with their variations, instead of one product per variant, and images come across. Keep your NXCart site online while WooCommerce imports the file, since WooCommerce downloads the images from it.
  • VirtueMart imports work with real exports. NXCart now reads the product export of CSVI, the tool most VirtueMart shops use: child products that are variants (sizes, colours) become variants of their product, children you list in categories stay products of their own, and values children leave to their parent, like the price, are filled in the way VirtueMart shows them. Nested categories, images, manufacturers (as brands), barcodes and sale prices come across, and old links to each child product lead to its product in NXCart.
  • Old product links keep working after you move. When you import from VirtueMart, HikaShop or Phoca Cart, NXCart remembers each product's old address, and visitors (and search engines) following an old link land on the same product in NXCart instead of a "page not found". Import while the old cart is still installed so its search-friendly addresses are remembered too.
  • Import from Phoca Cart. Bring your Phoca Cart catalog over with the file from Phoca Cart's Export: products, prices and sale prices, stock, images, options as variants, your category tree and manufacturers as brands. Semicolon-separated CSV files are now read automatically, whatever the platform.
  • Editing your catalog in a spreadsheet works both ways. Exporting in the NXCart format, editing the file and importing it with "Update existing products" now updates your products instead of adding copies of the ones you created in NXCart.
  • Brand pages and brands in CSV files. Each brand now has its own page listing its products (add one to a menu with the new Store Brand menu item), the products module can show a single brand, and CSV import and export carry brands (Shopify's Vendor and WooCommerce's Brands columns included), so you can assign brands to many products at once.
  • The "Void payment" button works. On a pending order, voiding a recorded payment now takes effect; before, the button did nothing.
  • EU rules are your choice, with a reminder. Every EU consumer-law feature below (withdrawal button, digital consent, legal guarantee notice, 30-day sale prices and product safety information) is off until you turn it on in Settings > General, since not every store sells in the EU. If your store's currency is an EU currency, the Dashboard lists which ones are still off, with a button to turn each on; the list goes away once all are on and comes back if you switch one off.
  • Clearer payment setup. Settings > Payments now shows the Stripe and PayPal webhook URL in a box of its own with a Copy button, lists the exact events to send, and puts each "Required" note right under its field.
  • Import from J2Store and J2Commerce. With J2Store reaching end of life on 19 October, you can bring its catalog to NXCart with the CSV from J2Store's Simple CSV Import/Export app: products, prices, stock, images and your article category names come across, and unpublished products stay hidden.
  • Barcodes survive import. CSV imports from any platform no longer discard valid EAN barcodes.
  • Brands and EU product-safety details. Add your brands under the new Brands section, with the manufacturer's name, address and contact, and the EU responsible person the GPSR requires when the manufacturer is outside the EU. NXCart flags brands whose safety details are incomplete. Pick a brand, identifier and safety warnings on each product; the product page then shows a link to all products of that brand, search engines see the brand, and, once you turn on "Show product safety information" in Settings > General, a "Product safety information" section.
  • Sale prices follow the EU 30-day rule. NXCart now records every price change and shows a sale against the lowest price of the 30 days before it started, as EU price-indication law requires, on product pages, category and landing cards, the cart and checkout, with a "Lowest price in the 30 days before this sale" line on the product page. A "sale" that is not below that price is shown as a normal price, without a badge or discount. Turn it on in Settings > General. Price history is recorded from the day you update whether or not it is on, and NXCart-format exports carry it along when you move or restore your store; for the first 30 days sales are shown against the current price as before.
  • Shoppers can sort your catalog. Category and All products pages now let shoppers sort by featured, price (both directions), newest, or name. Your default order is set in Settings > General. Note: the default is now featured products first, then newest, rather than alphabetical; choose "Name: A to Z" there to keep the old order.
  • Emails for you, not only your customers. You now get an email when an order comes in (as soon as a card or PayPal payment is confirmed, and straight away for bank transfer and cash on delivery), when an order is held for review, and when a customer withdraws from a purchase. Each email links straight to the order. A daily low-stock list is available too: schedule the "NXCart: Low-stock email" task once a day. Choose the addresses and switch each email on or off in the new Settings > Emails tab.
  • More ways to pay with Stripe. Stripe checkout now offers every payment method you turn on in your Stripe Dashboard, such as Apple Pay, Google Pay, Link, Klarna, iDEAL and SEPA Direct Debit, instead of cards only. Payments that take days to clear, like SEPA, now confirm or cancel the order automatically; if you enable one, add the events listed under Settings > Payments > Stripe to your Stripe webhook. Orders waiting for such a payment are no longer canceled by the stale-order cleanup, and a buyer whose payment fails sees a clear message on their order page.
  • Withdrawal button for EU customers. Each order page now has a "Withdraw from contract here" button that customers can use without logging in: they confirm their name and email, and they receive an email confirming the date and time you received their withdrawal, as the EU has required since 19 June 2026. You see the request on the order in Orders, can filter for it, and accept or reject it with a note. Refunds remain your separate step. Turn it on in Settings > General, where you also choose how many days after shipping the button stays available.
  • Proof of consent for digital products. When a cart contains digital products, checkout now asks the buyer to agree to immediate access and to acknowledge losing the right of withdrawal, and records when they did on the order. Without this, EU buyers can withdraw even after downloading. Turn it on in Settings > General.
  • EU legal guarantee notice. Product pages and checkout now offer a "Your legal guarantee rights" link that opens the official EU legal guarantee notice in your shopper's language, and order confirmation emails link to it too. EU sellers of goods must show this notice from 27 September 2026. It appears only for physical products; turn it on in Settings > General.

1.0.2 — 2026-09-07

  • Final-sale products save correctly. The Final sale checkbox now remains selected after saving and reopening a product.
  • Promotional product groups stay useful. Featured, New Arrivals, Deals, and product modules no longer promote sold-out physical products, and the Featured section contains only products you explicitly marked as featured.

1.0.1 — 2026-08-28

  • NXP Insiders for store owners. Free-edition store owners can now open the NXP Insiders Discord membership page directly from the Dashboard.

1.0.0 — 2026-08-28

0.5.3 — 2026-08-21

  • Variants can now be reordered. Drag a variant by the handle at the top of its card, or use the Move up and Move down buttons, and customers see your variants in that order on the product page. Products you never reorder keep exactly the order they have now.

  • Variant cards fold away. Click a variant's header, or its chevron, to collapse it down to a single line showing its SKU and price. Products with more than four variants open folded, so you get the whole list at a glance instead of a long scroll, and "Collapse all" / "Expand all" switches the lot.

  • Categories can have an image. Pick one from the media manager on the category form and it appears on the shop landing page tile and next to the category name on its own page. Leave it empty and everything looks exactly as it does today.

  • Category images show while assigning products. The category list in the product editor now shows each category's image beside its name, so you can tell two similarly named categories apart at a glance.

  • Variant order survives export and re-import. Arranging your variants and then round-tripping the catalogue through CSV no longer flattens the order back to how it was created.

0.5.2 — 2026-08-06

  • Tax names are now safely escaped on customer order pages.

  • Invoices now show your store details. The configured store name, support email, and phone are now used on invoices, and order emails use the configured store name.

  • Invoices use space more efficiently. Billing and shipping addresses now appear side by side when both are present.

  • Invoices and order emails can include your store logo. Logos can be enabled independently for documents and emails.

  • PDF attachments are now optional. You can disable invoice/proforma attachments while keeping bank-transfer details in the email and documents available from the order screen.

  • Tax labels are now consistent and translated. Checkout, order pages, emails, invoices, and the admin order view now use the same tax name and inclusive/exclusive wording.

  • Product image previews now appear in the Images tab.

  • Portuguese (Portugal) is now available as an installable language pack.

  • Submitting checkout twice no longer creates two orders. A double-click, an impatient refresh, or a back-and-resubmit now resolves to the order it already created instead of a second one. A retry that arrives while the first is still being processed is asked to wait a moment; once the order exists, the retry returns that same order — free and bank-transfer orders come back with their original confirmation, without a second email or a second payment request, and an order that was already paid comes back confirmed. If you cancelled the order in the meantime (or your stale-order cleanup did), a resubmit correctly starts a fresh purchase, so nobody is left with a cart they cannot check out.

  • Links in order emails always point at your shop, never at the admin panel. When an email was triggered from the back office (recording a payment, marking an order fulfilled or refunded, resending downloads), its "Track order" button, download links and footer address could be built from the administrator address instead of your storefront, so customers clicked through to a page they could not open. Every customer-facing link is now built for the storefront no matter where the email is sent from, including on multilingual sites, sites with SEO-friendly URLs on or off, and shops installed in a subfolder. The same fix covers invoice and proforma footers. If a link genuinely cannot be built, the email still goes out with that button omitted rather than carrying a broken address.

  • Customers buying digital products now actually receive their download emails. Both the order confirmation and the downloads-ready email failed silently for any order containing downloadable files, so buyers were left without their links and nothing in the shop said anything had gone wrong. The same fault made the admin Resend email button fail with an error instead of sending. Both now work, and orders placed before this fix can be resent from the order screen.

  • Backing out of PayPal or Stripe no longer costs you the sale. A shopper who clicks cancel on the payment page, closes the tab, or loses their connection can return to checkout and pick up where they left off: they are taken back to the very same payment page, not a second one, so there is no risk of paying twice and no stray duplicate order on your books.

  • Your customers' carts are protected while they are paying. If a shopper opens the payment page, then adds something to their cart in another tab, completing that first payment no longer wipes the newer cart. Coupon usage is also recorded more reliably: a coupon can only ever be counted once per order, and when two shoppers race for a coupon's last use, whoever was already quoted the discount keeps it and it stays correctly counted.

  • Payments that are interrupted mid-confirmation now recover on their own. If the site was interrupted in the moment between recording a payment and confirming the order, the order could stay stuck on "pending" even though the customer had paid, and the payment provider's automatic retries could not repair it. Those retries now finish the job: the order is confirmed, and a digital delivery that failed the first time is attempted again. Confirmation emails are still sent only once.

  • A customer charged twice is now flagged for you instead of passing unnoticed. A second payment arriving against an order that is already paid was treated as a harmless duplicate message. Both payments are now kept on the order, nothing is delivered or emailed a second time, and the order is marked for review so you can refund the extra. Payments that arrive without any identifier the provider can be held to are likewise held for review rather than confirming an order on their own.

0.5.1 — 2026-07-01

  • Accessibility fix. Corrected the admin navigation's screen-reader label.

0.5.0 — 2026-07-01

  • Initial release of the free edition. NXCart is a complete storefront for Joomla 5 and 6: a product catalog with categories, variants, related-product suggestions, and per-product SEO; a cart and guest-friendly checkout with coupons, tax rules, and weight-based shipping; Cash on Delivery built in, plus optional PayPal and Stripe that confirm orders automatically; order management with a sales report; catalog import and migration from WooCommerce, Shopify, VirtueMart, or HikaShop plus CSV import/export; clean URLs, canonical tags, structured data, and multilingual support out of the box; a light or dark storefront theme; product-grid modules for any page; optional account creation after checkout; and a one-click sample catalog so a fresh install isn't an empty shop.
