EU consumer rules
If you sell to consumers in the European Union, EU law asks for a few things on your product pages, at checkout and after the sale. NXCart has a feature for each of them. They are all off until you turn them on, because not every store sells in the EU; you find them together in NXCart → Settings → General → EU consumer rules.
| Feature | Setting | What the law asks |
|---|---|---|
| Withdrawal button | Offer the withdrawal button on order pages | A way to withdraw from an online purchase with a button (since 19 June 2026) |
| Consent to immediate digital delivery | Ask for consent to immediate digital delivery | The buyer's consent before digital content is delivered within the withdrawal period |
| Legal guarantee notice | Show the EU legal guarantee notice | The official EU notice about the legal guarantee (from 27 September 2026) |
| Sales against the 30-day lowest price | Compare sales with the 30-day lowest price | A sale compared with the lowest price of the 30 days before it (Omnibus rule) |
| Product safety information | Show product safety information | The manufacturer, EU responsible person, product identifier and warnings on each listing (GPSR) |
This page explains what each feature does. It is not legal advice: check with your adviser which rules apply to your shop.
The Dashboard checklist
When your store's currency is an EU currency (such as the euro, the Czech koruna or the Polish złoty), the Dashboard shows an EU consumer rules card listing each feature that is still off, with a Turn on button that opens the setting. It also counts the products whose brand still lacks its safety details, with a Review brands button (see Brands).
If you do not sell to consumers in the EU, or have decided about these rules yourself, click Hide this checklist on the card. It is hidden for every admin of the store. To show it again, tick Show the EU checklist on the dashboard in Settings → General → EU consumer rules.
The card disappears once everything is on and complete, and comes back if you switch one off.
Withdrawal button
EU customers can withdraw from an online purchase, usually within 14 days of delivery. Since 19 June 2026 the shop must let them do that with a button, not only by email.
What customers see. Each order page (the status link in the confirmation email) shows a Withdraw from contract here button while withdrawal is possible. It works without logging in. The customer confirms the order number, their name and email address (the page suggests the email they ordered with), and may give a reason; they don't have to. After Confirm withdrawal, they get an email confirming the date and time you received it.
What you see. The order gets a Withdrawal badge in Orders, and the state filter has a Withdrawal requested option so you can find them. The order's detail panel shows the request under Withdrawal requests, with notes that may matter for your decision (every item is marked final sale; the buyer agreed to immediate digital delivery; the email entered differs from the order's). Choose Accept or Reject and add a note for your records. You can also get an email for each request: see Store owner emails.
Refunds are separate
Accepting a withdrawal records your decision only. Refund the payment or cancel the order yourself afterwards, as you would for any refund.
Settings. Turn on Offer the withdrawal button on order pages and set Offer the withdrawal button for (days). The days count from shipping, or from the order date when nothing ships. The legal period is 14 days from delivery, so allow for delivery time. After that, the order page says withdrawal is no longer available online and asks the customer to contact you.
Consent to immediate digital delivery
A buyer of digital content can normally withdraw within 14 days, even after downloading, unless they agreed to immediate delivery and acknowledged losing the right of withdrawal.
With Ask for consent to immediate digital delivery on, checkout asks for exactly that whenever the cart contains digital products, and records the time of the consent on the order. Carts with physical products only are not affected.
Legal guarantee notice
From 27 September 2026, EU sellers of goods must show the official EU notice about the legal guarantee: goods must work as described for at least two years.
With Show the EU legal guarantee notice on, product pages and checkout show a Your legal guarantee rights link that opens the official notice in the shopper's language, and order confirmation emails link to it too. It appears for physical products only, since the legal guarantee is about goods.
Sales against the 30-day lowest price
The EU Omnibus rule says a price reduction must be shown against the lowest price of the 30 days before the sale started, not against a price raised just before the sale.
NXCart records every price change of every variant from the day you update to 1.0.3, whether the setting is on or not. With Compare sales with the 30-day lowest price on:
- A sale is shown against that lowest price, on product pages, category and landing cards, in the cart and at checkout. The discount percentage is worked out from it too.
- Product pages add a line: Lowest price in the 30 days before this sale: €19.99.
- A "sale" price that is not below that lowest price is shown as a normal price, without a sale badge or discount.
- Until a variant has 30 days of recorded prices, its sale is shown against the current price, as before. The product editor says so under the sale price: Until 12 October 2026 this sale is shown against the current price.
The customer always pays the sale price; only the comparison shown changes.
Moving or restoring a store
NXCart-format exports carry each variant's price history, so importing the file into another NXCart store keeps the 30-day record instead of starting over.
Product safety information
The EU General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR) asks online listings to show who made the product, how to reach them, an EU responsible person when the manufacturer is outside the EU, a product identifier, and any warnings.
With Show product safety information on, product pages get a collapsed Product safety information section with:
- Manufacturer: the name, postal address and contact from the product's brand;
- EU responsible person: from the brand, when the manufacturer is outside the EU;
- Product identifier: from the product's Product identifier (type, batch or serial number) field;
- Warnings and safety information: from the product's Safety information field.
Set up the manufacturer details once per brand in NXCart → Brands, and pick the brand, identifier and safety information on each product's General tab. See Brands for the details.
