Back-in-stock alerts

When the variant a shopper wants is sold out, the product page offers Notify me when available. They leave their email address, and NXCart sends them one email when that variant is back in stock.

Turning it on

Back-in-stock alerts are on by default. The switch is in NXCart → Settings → General → Back-in-stock alerts.

The emails are sent by a scheduled task. Create it once: go to System → Scheduled Tasks, click New, choose NXCart: Back-in-stock alerts, and run it once a day.

What shoppers see

  • On a sold-out variant, the buy buttons are disabled and the Notify me when available form appears. Sold-out sizes and colours can still be picked, struck through, so shoppers can sign up for the exact one they want.
  • A logged-in customer who signs up with their account email is on the list straight away.
  • Anyone else gets an email asking them to confirm their address first, so nobody can sign up someone else. Sign-ups not confirmed within 7 days are deleted.
  • When the variant has stock again, the next run of the task sends each shopper one email with a link to the product. Every email has a link to unsubscribe.
  • A shopper who signs up again after a restock is put back on the list.

Only variants of products set to Active are announced; a product you marked Out of stock yourself is not, even if its variants have stock.

Seeing who is waiting

In the product editor, the Variants tab shows under a variant's stock how many shoppers are waiting for it, for example "3 shoppers waiting for it to be back in stock".

Privacy

A customer's data export includes their back-in-stock sign-ups, and removing a customer's data deletes them.
