AI Assistant

AI Assistant is one of the core Pro authoring tools in NXP Easy Forms. It works inside the form builder to help you move from an idea to a usable form faster, then improve the result without giving up control of the final configuration.

What it does

• Generate form — describe the form you need and get a structured proposal for the title, fields, success message, and optional email subject.
• Review form — inspect an existing form for accessibility, validation, copy, and structure issues, with findings grouped by severity.
• Notification template — draft a subject and success message using supported placeholders such as {{form_title}} and &#123;&#123;field:<name>&#125;&#125;.

The assistant proposes changes. You choose which generated parts to apply before saving the form.

Why it matters

AI Assistant is not a decorative add-on. It shortens the highest-friction parts of form creation:

• getting from a blank canvas to a complete first draft;
• spotting weak validation and structure before publishing;
• producing cleaner notification copy without hand-writing every variation;
• working in the prompt language you provide, including multilingual output.

Enable AI Assistant

1. Open Components → NXP Easy Forms → Options → AI Assistant.
2. Add your own OpenAI API key. The key is stored encrypted and is write-only after save.
3. Review and accept the required risk acknowledgement.
4. Enable AI Assistant and use Test connection.
5. Open a form in the builder and click AI in the toolbar.

AI Assistant is Pro-only. If a license lapses, saved settings are preserved, but generation and test actions are blocked until the license is active again.

Controls and guardrails

• Bring your own key — usage is billed to your AI provider account.
• Rate caps — configurable per-admin hourly and per-site daily limits reduce accidental overspend.
• Reasoning effort — choose Default, Low, or High depending on the work you want from the model.
• Token budget controls — tune the maximum output budget for larger form proposals.
• No direct save — generated output is reviewed before it enters the normal form save flow.
• No real submissions — AI Assistant works on prompts and selected form configuration, not submitted visitor data or uploaded files.

Typical workflow

1. Start with Generate form to create the initial structure.
2. Review the proposal and apply only the sections you want.
3. Refine the result manually in the builder.
4. Run Review form before publishing.
5. Use Notification template to draft the success message and email subject.

Multilingual output

AI Assistant follows the language of your prompt when it can do so confidently. Ask for a German contact form and it returns German labels and messages while keeping technical field names as stable ASCII identifiers.

Troubleshooting

Problem	What to check
AI button is missing	Confirm Pro is active and AI Assistant is enabled in component Options.
Test connection is blocked	Check that an API key is saved, the risk acknowledgement is current, and the test-button rate limit has not been reached.
Output is cut off	Raise Maximum output tokens per call or ask for a smaller result.
Provider refuses the request	Rephrase the prompt and try again.
Costs are higher than expected	Review the selected model, reasoning effort, token cap, and site/admin rate limits.
