Scheduled Scans
Scheduled scans run through Joomla Scheduled Tasks and report changes for you to review. They never publish blocking rules automatically.
Set a schedule
- Open Schedule inside Services.
- Choose Weekly or Monthly.
- Optionally set a same-site Start URL.
- Enable scheduled scans.
- Choose Change notifications: Joomla inbox, email to one address, or NexusConsent summaries only.
- Choose Save schedule.
You need permission to configure the component, Scan permission, suitable access to Joomla's scheduler for task management, and usable license access to enable scans. Ensure the NexusConsent task plugin is enabled.
Make sure Joomla runs the task
Saving a weekly or monthly schedule does not itself start Joomla's scheduler.
For reliable runs, open Joomla scheduler settings, enable Web Cron, and have your hosting cron call Joomla's generated URL every minute. A server cron that runs Joomla's scheduler directly is also suitable. The weekly/monthly setting still determines when a new scan starts.
Visitor-triggered scheduling can start and continue scans while people browse the site. It depends on traffic, so quiet sites can run late. The Schedule panel shows whether visitor-triggered scheduling is enabled and links to Joomla scheduler settings when permitted.
How a run progresses
Each scheduled run checks the home page plus the next slice of the site's page list. Pages per scheduled run defaults to 25, with a 5–50 range in Options.
The task processes short batches across several scheduler callbacks until that run finishes. A scheduled scan is in progress is a normal state: Joomla continues it automatically. Later scheduled runs advance through the remaining page list.
Change summaries and delivery
After completion, review the summary for new or disappeared services, changed coverage, and anything needing a decision. A scheduled scan updates discovery, not your published consent rules.
- Joomla inbox: the summary remains local and is sent to eligible administrators. Their messaging preferences may also send email.
- Email: send to the single configured address using Joomla's mail configuration.
- Summary only: keep the local summary without sending a message.
Acknowledge a summary after reviewing it. Delivery status is tracked per recipient; an uncertain delivery is not automatically resent. Try notification again can deliberately retry an unresolved delivery, with a warning that a duplicate may result if the first delivery actually succeeded.
Troubleshooting
- Not run yet: check that the task plugin is enabled and Joomla's scheduler has a working trigger.
- In progress: allow further scheduler callbacks; check Web Cron if the page count stops moving.
- Failed or timed out: use Open this task in Joomla, inspect the task settings and time limit, and use Run Test when ready to retry.
- Email not delivered: check Joomla mail settings and the recipient. The summary remains available even if delivery fails.
- License-dependent actions paused: check License and restore usable access.
After resolving a task problem, open Health and choose Run checks to refresh the saved finding.
