Pro Installation

Install pkg_nexusconsentpro_<version>.zip as one Joomla package. You do not need to install NexusConsent Free first.

Requirements

  • Joomla 5.x or 6.x.
  • PHP 8.1 or newer; your Joomla version's minimum PHP requirement also applies.
  • A MySQL-compatible Joomla database for the included consent engine.
  • An administrator account allowed to install extensions.
  • Outbound HTTPS access for license activation and updates, and access to your site's public pages for scans.

Install the package

  1. Back up the site before upgrading an existing installation.
  2. Open System → Install → Extensions and upload the complete Pro ZIP.
  3. Open Components → NexusConsent PRO → License and activate the installation.
  4. Check that System – NexusConsent, NexusConsent - Licensing and Updates, and the NexusConsent task plugin are enabled as needed.
  5. Review banner settings, texts, and patterns in System – NexusConsent.
  6. Run a scan from Services, review your services, and open Setup Health.
  7. Clear caches and test the visitor consent flow through your public site URL.

The package contains the shared consent engine (plg_system_nexusconsent), administrator component (com_nexusconsent), licensing/update system plugin (plg_system_nexusconsentpro), and scheduled-scan task plugin (plg_task_nexusconsentpro).

Moving from Free

Install the Pro package over your existing site. A suitable existing consent engine is adopted with its settings and records preserved. An older engine is updated when the package requires it; a newer compatible engine is reused without a downgrade.

An engine that was already disabled stays disabled. Enable it deliberately after checking the configuration. A newly installed engine is enabled by the installer.

Once Pro owns the installed set, use the complete Pro package for updates rather than updating the included engine separately. The package manages the update registration for the set.

Updating and removing Pro

With usable license access, install authenticated package updates through Joomla. Recheck scans, Setup Health, and the visitor flow after an update.

Before removing Pro, deactivate the installation's license. Uninstall the Pro package through Joomla's extension manager. Its uninstall process retains the consent engine, settings, and consent records, restores the engine's standalone update registration, and keeps Pro record tables for a later reinstall.

Smart Embeds and consent-panel details need the Pro system plugin, so they disappear when that plugin is removed. Existing consent-engine blocking rules remain. Uninstalling the retained consent engine is a separate action.

To free a domain assignment, also release it under My Licenses on nexusplugins.com; local license deactivation alone does not release that assignment.
