AI Form Generation
Pro feature
AI form generation is part of Formatrica Pro. It uses your own OpenAI API key.
Describe the form you want in plain language and let the assistant draft it for you. It can also review an existing form and draft notification copy. Every suggestion is shown for your review before anything is applied — the AI never saves changes on its own.
Set up
- Create an API key in your OpenAI account.
- Go to Formatrica → Settings → AI.
- Turn on AI form generation and paste your API key (stored encrypted; shown once).
- Choose a model (see below) and save.
Settings

Preset models: gpt-5-nano (economy), gpt-5-mini (standard), and gpt-5 (best quality). The Refresh button lists the chat/reasoning models available on your OpenAI account.
What it can do
- Generate a form — describe what you need ("a two-step event registration with dietary preferences") and get a complete draft form to review and apply.
- Review a form — get feedback on an existing form (missing fields, validation, structure) with no changes made.
- Draft notification copy — generate an email subject and success message. Generated copy may use the
{{form_title}}and{{field:name}}placeholders.
Notes
- The assistant sends a reduced form schema (titles, field names, types, labels) to OpenAI — not your submissions or any stored data.
- Usage is capped per admin per hour and per site per day to keep costs predictable.
- If your Pro licence lapses, AI generation is disabled (your key and settings are kept).
Test it
- Open the AI assistant in the builder, describe a simple form, and confirm a reviewable proposal appears that you can apply or discard.
